Position Summary: The Sous Chef is responsible for planning and preparing food in the restaurant and supervising other kitchen staff.
Experience: Five years or more experience in a full-service restaurants, to include pizza experience.
Compensation: Competitive salary depending on experience.
Duties Include:
The following is a general, but not fully inclusive, list of basic daily/weekly job duties and functions:
- Oversees food preparation and cooking. Prepares meals and food to meet the specifications of guests in a timely manner.
- Assists with the hiring and training of new kitchen staff.
- Properly measures kitchen ingredients and food portions.
- Ensures kitchen staff adhere to set standards, procedures, department rules and sanitation requirements.
- Uses kitchen knives and equipment such as grills, ovens, steamers and warmers in food preparation.
- Manages kitchen inventory and ensures supplies are fresh and of high quality.
- Ensures proper food temperatures when cooking and storage after.
- Keeps workstation and kitchen equipment clean, organized and sanitized according to sanitation standards.
- Facilitates kitchen opening and closing.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Executive Chef.
